World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and increase other stats.
Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.
It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at lower levels. The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear players can look at the item level. It's an excellent gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it is able to deal. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done using the item's level.
On PC, you are able to view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are item upgrades about the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is often very close to Blizzard's actual item level.
However, this is not the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the area the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game utilizes them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.
item upgrade to change the stats of an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes could provide the item extra damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an exclusive name to the item.
Presently, all affixes are able to be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within that range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the probability of obtaining items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game and is therefore more valuable in the early game than in later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.
Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can be made or spawn using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) for a further +40 luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any ability that causes damage by 5%. These items are available in the shops or made with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.
The Luck of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases that chance by 5percent.
The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
